Domestic Architecture
Private Residential/housing

We have experience of working with new-build, extensions, refurbishments, and listed buildings in conservation areas. Where a bespoke solution is required we will develop a brief to suit your individual needs and lifestyle choices that acknowledges the constraints of the site and context. Working in response to either traditional or contemporary design we will create flexible, imaginative and truly personal spaces delivered to meet your aspirations and constraints. Always mindful of your budget, we will seek value for money from the outset while maintaining design quality and intent.

We firmly believe that good quality living environments have an important part to play in improving the health and well being of residents and that the design of housing projects should make important contributions to the local community that are not only sustainable and contextual but enhance the experience of all users. In recent years John Fitzgerald has made voluntary contributions towards community planning including the local Parish plan and as editor of the Hordle Village Design Statement.
Commercial Architecture
Fitzgerald Architecture delivers a client-focused service. Through close collaboration every effort is made to ensure that the unique requirements of each project are properly understood and all opportunities are taken to satisfy the brief requirements when producing design solutions.

We bring a thorough approach and rigorous analysis to the design of all buildings. Combining an understanding of commercial interests with our commitment for research and innovation we work with stakeholders to produce appealing, sustainable solutions that respond to the context, fulfil functional needs and meet end-user requirements.

John Fitzgerald has been involved with the design and successful implementation of various commercial projects ranging from Banks through to offices and including broadcasting facilities. This has included the design of specialist catering, teaching and simulator facilities. Where appropriate, it is possible to customise our services to include the coordination of specialist trades, IT, audio visual, furniture selection and office equipment.
Lesiure Architecture
The approach we bring to the design of all buildings is complemented by an interest in sport. With a sporting background and experience of golf clubs in particular we are able to interpret the briefing requirements from the perspective of the end user introducing a further layer of understanding into the process of realising solutions for clubs and other recreational facilities.
Infrastructure Architect
From his earlier involvement with Aedas in Hong Kong John Fitzgerald made significant contributions to a range of infrastructure projects including the feasibility design of new railway projects. He was responsible for teams designing and constructing railway stations, railway infrastructure and industrial buildings.

Sunny Bay station (left) received awards for design and was one the first buildings in Hong Kong to receive a Green building award for both sustainable and innovative design.

Infrastructure design has contributed to the development of tools that Fitzgerald Architecture has available to use for delivering design solutions and to implement projects. The thorough approach together with the rigor of analysis, design and organisation of production information that is necessary for these buildings together with the requisite client focus may all be readily translated to other projects. This helps towards enabling a better understanding of the unique demands of each project, the search for innovative and sustainable solutions and encouraging the pursuit of all available opportunities to satisfy the brief requirements.
